Robby LeBlanc here on December 1, 2011 and in just 4 days I’ll be part of the 44,000 people that have registered for the the Rock “N” Roll Las Vegas Marathon! That just blows me away that 44, 000 people have actually registered for this once a year Las Vegas event. Last year I believe there were about 30,000 people registered. It will be very exciting. They will be blocking off the entire Las Vegas strip From Tropicanna all the way to downtown from 3 pm till 10 pm.
My trainer, Nancy Dickenson gave her TEAM of Runners/Walkers a workout Schedule to follow, which I have been doing religously. So this week, we are scaling down on the daily miles and focusing on getting rest. Being rested and mentally prepared for the Mararthon is critical. So last night I did a casal 2 miles on the tradmill and came home. This morning I’ll meet with Nancy and the TEAM at the Las Vegas Athlectic Club for a very light workout.
Preparing for a marathon has many moving parts. There is the mental aspect, Diet, Exercise and so on. Part of my daily rituals besides my working out are, checking my Blood Glucose levels and my Blood Pressure. Being a diabetic I have to keep a keen eye on all my numbers. I need to check my feet first thing in the morning for any cuts, blisters or maybe something that may be stuck in my foot, like a pin that I may not feel due to Daibetic Neuropathy.
In training for this marathon, I have had to put on some serious miles on a weekly basis. The more miles I put on, the more wear and tear on my feet! So I have been finding myself checking my feet and Bloob Gluscose levels more regularily. This morning I woke and checked my blood and it was 110. This is higher than usual for me, as I’m usually in the 90-100 area. This just tells me I need to keep a keen eye my food choices today.
